Belarusian surgeons have successfully performed liver re-transplantation on a Japanese, BelTA reports.
At a press conference devoted to advancements in the performance of high-precision and extra-difficult operations Oleg Rummo, director of the National transplantation centre, pointed out that liver re-transplantation on which a Japanese woman has been lately operated serves as the evidence of a high level of Belarussian surgeons’ professionalism.
The earlier transplanted by foreign surgeons organ wasn’t functioning well, so Belarusian surgeons made a decision to perform re-transplantation. “We’ve faced deteriorations and had to nurse the patient. Now as the emergency is over she is going to continue the treatment being admitted to an ordinary in-patient hospital department”.
Although Belarusian citizens are given top priority in terms of transplantation operations, more and more foreigners are coming to Belarus to seek treatment. Belarussian specialists also perform operations abroad — only for running year period 6 liver and kidney transplantations have been performed outside Belarus by country’s surgeons.
Today, Belarussian specialists exchange their professional experience with Armenian colleagues who are completing a training course at the National transplantation centre in Minsk.
