Low-cost flights are to be scheduled to/from Belarusian regional airports.
Ministry of Transport and Communication has announced today that negotiations with international low-cost airway companies are carried on to attract flights to the airports in the regional cities.
“To date we have four regional airports that comply with all international standards — these are Grodno, Gomel, Vitebsk and Mogilev. Last year we noted a positive dynamics in demand of flights from these airports although the majority of carried out flights were charter flights organized by travel agencies,” said the Minister.
He continued: “We’ve adopted the plan for further development of regional airports under which we plan to bring low-cost flights there. Now we are negotiating with various countries such as Poland, Estonia, Hungary and Ukraine promoting our market to them. They see our market’s potential and are eager to consider Belarusian regional airports as a possible way of broadening their routes. We are looking forward to a second round of negotiations to be held in the nearest future and hope them to be fruitful”.
