Pilot project on contactless credit card payment on land public transport was launched in Minsk.
Tut.by is among the first to test and report how it works. For now, contactless card payment is only available on tram 6, but if the project proves itself to be faultless and successful, non-cash payment will be available on all types of land public transport.
In Minsk underground, contactless card payment has been in operation for almost a year, with many people preferring to pay by card instead of buying a token. To perform such a payment, you should have a contactless Visa, MasterCard or Belcard powered pay card or any device which supports NFC — wristbands, watches, smartphones or others.
