How to get from Minsk to Warsaw and back: best ways

The architecture of Warsaw reflects the long and complex history of the city. Gothic churches and neoclassical palaces, Soviet-era houses and modern skyscrapers are all combined in Poland's capital city.

If you've already seen Belarus both along and across, and there's still time before you leave for your home country, then buy a ticket and go to Warsaw for dumplings and beer. We will tell you how to get from Minsk to Warsaw and back in the most advantageous way: to be comfortable and cheaper.

The route Mins – Warsaw on the map

The distance from Minsk to Warsaw is about 550 km – about 6 and half hours by car.

There are several routes from Minsk to Warsaw: through Grodno (highway M6) or through Brest (highway M1). The M6 motorway has recently been reconstructed and is the shortest route to the Polish capital. By the way, the border on M6 is also easier to pass.

The road to the M6 is laid according to European standards with a 7-meter carriageway in each direction and a roadside of 3.75 meters, as well as a five-meter separating strip. The estimated speed is 100 km/h, but the limit is expected to be revised.

Train

To get from Minsk to Warsaw by train you need to choose one of the suitable trains, the route all starts in Moscow, and the last point of the route are Paris, Nice or Berlin. There are also direct coaches to Prague via Warsaw.

Train schedule Minsk-Warsaw-Minsk

The train Moscow – Berlin leaves Minsk at 5.20 pm on Fridays and Sundays and arrives in the capital of Poland at 10.41 pm, i.e. there are 7 and a half hours on the way.

The train rides back on Sundays and Tuesdays at 4.55 am, while in Minsk it stays at 1.28 pm.

Trains from Moscow to Nice or Paris depart from Minsk at night on Wednesdays and Fridays, and stay in Warsaw in the afternoon. The trip takes 11 and half hours.

These trains leave Warsaw at about 2 pm on Mondays and Fridays, and arrive in Minsk the next day at night.

Also since December 2019 as a part of train Brest – Prague began to go every day coaches Moscow – Prague. They leave Minsk at 12 a.m. and arrive in Warsaw around 9 a.m.

Departure from Warsaw at about 7 p.m., and arrival in Minsk at about 6 a.m.

The cost of train tickets

The cost of tickets for trains from Minsk to Warsaw starts from 20 EUR.

The principle of boarding is following: in Brest, these trains arrive on different ways of the platform, passengers change, and then trains continue their way to the capitals of Belarus and Poland.

Departure of the train from Minsk is at 11.20 am and 3.59 pm, while arrival in Warsaw is at 5.50 pm and 10.15 pm. That is, the train is on its way for about 6 hours and 30 minutes.

The train leaves Warsaw at 8.30 am and 1.10 pm, and arrives at its destination at 6.58 pm and 11.25 pm.

Usual trains

If you are offered to ride in first and second-class coaches on a Swiss train, the choice is much wider in ordinary trains: seats, place cards and coupe.

How to buy train tickets online

To buy tickets online, the website poezd.rw.by was created. It is important to know that not all trains can buy tickets online. In this case you should contact the ticket offices of the railway station, which is located at 5, Privokzalnaya Square, Minsk (metro station "Pl. Lenina").

Bus

A bus ride is a more affordable way to get to Warsaw. The Belarusian Bus Station has several types of buses that will take you to your destination.

Where and how to buy bus tickets

You can buy a bus ticket at the ticket offices of the bus station at 6, Bobruiskaya Street, Minsk (metro station "Pl. Lenina") or order it at the website of one of the companies: www.ecolines.by, www.expressbus.by, www.minsktrans.by or www.busfor.by.

Prices, depending on the carrier, vary from $20 to $30 in one direction per person. On average, travel time takes about 11 hours.

Ecolines buses from Minsk to Warsaw – pros and cons

Buses from Ecolines run three times a day, but do not enter Warsaw's airports.

The company has equipped its buses with a toilet, coffee machine, comfortable seats, wifi and sockets near each seat. However, it is not quite convenient to take the bus for 11 hours. Despite the fact that the company has increased the distance between the seats, people with back or joint diseases may not be comfortable. In addition, if you want to sleep, you will not be able to arrange the seats to a full sleeping place.

Minsk-Warsaw-Minsk bus schedule

Buses of Minsktrans to Warsaw run three times a day, and their schedule is available at www.ticketbus.by or at the bus station.

Buses Intercars leave Minsk daily at 9.00 pm and additionally from Thursday to Sunday at 9.40 am. From Warsaw, they depart daily at 11.50 pm and additionally from Friday to Monday at 8.25 am.

VisitTour buses depart from Minsk every day at 11.00 pm and from Warsaw at 6.30 pm.

Shuttle bus

Shuttle bus to Warsaw departs from Minsk on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. and can take you to the center of Warsaw or to Modlin airport. The cost of a one-way shuttle bus trip starts at 18 euros and takes you to the center of Warsaw. If you plan to go to the airport, it will cost you about 27 euros.

Plane

The plane is the fastest way to get to Warsaw. If you fly with connections, the journey time will take from 4 and half hours, and if you fly directly, it's only 1 hour and 10 minutes.

The schedule of Belavia direct flight

Direct flight from Minsk to Warsaw flies every day at 3 pm and 2.05 pm. If you are not satisfied with this time, you can fly at 7.40 pm on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Back planes also fly every day at 3.00 pm and 3.05 pm local time. You can also fly back on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 11.55 am.

Fare of airline tickets

Prices start from 70 euros, but the price changes monthly. Therefore, in January you will have to pay about 100 Euros for a one-way ticket, while in May there are only 78 Euros.

Shared trips

In Warsaw, you can find a car and split the costs among all. The BlaBlaCar service will help you do this. On average, it costs 14 – 17 euros.

With BlaBlaCar service, vehicle drivers are looking for companions to brighten up their loneliness during the trip, as well as minimizing their gasoline costs. The application can be downloaded from the appStore and Google play. Drivers write down the time of departure, the collection point, the cost and number of available seats.

Hitchhiking from Minsk to Warsaw

It's a travel option for the bravest. You need to go to the M1 or M6 highway and wait for the car to stop. It is impossible to calculate the cost of this trip even approximately.
