Master's studies in Belarus

Master's degree is the second level of higher education, it allows you to develop your career and get a chance to deepen your professional knowledge. With a master's degree, you will be able to take up management positions within the company.

What do you need to apply for a master's degree for?

A master's degree gives you an opportunity to engage in research and postgraduate studies, as well as to deepen your knowledge in a field of higher education or to study a new field.

How to enter the magistracy in Belarus?

Step 1. Defining the future specialty

Before entering, an applicant must determine the specialty that he or she wants to master. It may not coincide with the specialty indicated in the diploma, but must belong to one field of knowledge.

Before the interview, it is important to determine the topic of the research paper on which you will defend your master's thesis.

Step 2. Submitting documents

The university usually accepts Master's degrees in June and July. The list of obligatory documents for citizens of Belarus includes:

  • an application to the head of a higher education institution in the prescribed form;
  • originals and copies of the higher education diploma and its annexes, which are certified by the admission committee;
  • an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the Faculty Council, containing a recommendation for Master's degree (for those entering the year of completion of studies at the 1st level of higher education);
  • an extract from the employment record book or a copy of the employment record book certified by the Human Resources Department at the place of work (for employees);
  • 2 envelopes with return address;
  • medical certificate of health according to the form;
  • an identity document must be presented in person;
  • copies of passport pages 31, 32, 33 and passport registration pages, which are certified by the admissions office.

The list of mandatory documents for foreign citizens includes:

  • an application to the head of a higher education institution in the prescribed form;
  • original higher education diplomas and their annexes;
  • documents confirming Belarusian nationality for Belarusians who are citizens of foreign states or stateless persons;
  • the opinion of the medical advisory commission;
  • a medical report on the state of health and a certificate that there is no HIV infection;
  • a copy of an identity document;
  • 4 color photos 3x4.

As an addition, the applicant may submit:

  • a list and copies of published works;
  • copies of Candidate's Examination Certificates;
  • recommendations of scientific institutions.

Step 3: Introductory tests

For admission, the applicant must pass an oral examination in the chosen profile and undergo an oral interview at the respective department.

Then the Admissions Committee makes a decision on admission of the applicant to the Master's degree.

What does the Master's degree in Belarus give?

To the specialist

A specialist with a master's degree can work in a company in the specialty indicated in the bachelor's degree or master's degree - the choice is yours.

Professionals are given an advantage and the opportunity to occupy positions that require special experience during the hiring process.

Professionals are eligible for a supplement to the rate or salary of the position.

What can a Master's degree do?

Master's degrees are in pedagogical subjects, so a master's degree can teach at university.

A master may continue his research activities at the university and go to postgraduate studies. It is impossible to enter postgraduate studies without a master's degree.

The rules of admission to the magistracy

  1. Only those persons who have completed the first level of higher education may take part in the competition.
  2. Only those who have at least 10 months of work experience can enter the magistracy.
  3. Persons granted refuge in Belarus might participate in the competition for the Master's degree.
  4. For foreign citizens there is an additional interview on academic disciplines.
  5. Master's degree programs are available in full-time, part-time and evening form.

Entry to the magistracy

Entrance tests for level II education are held from 6 to 12 July. In exceptional cases, by decision of the head of the university entrance exams are held from 25 to 30 August.

Entrance examinations for certain specialties of agricultural profile are held from 25 to 30 August.

Institute for Training of Scientific Personnel NAS of Belarus

It is an educational institution within the National Academy of Sciences.

It is a part of the institute:

  • magistracy;
  • postgraduate and doctoral department of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus;
  • center for additional education;
  • library;
  • chairs:
    • social and humanitarian disciplines;
    • natural-science disciplines and information technologies.

Preparation in magistracy of the Institute of training of scientific personnel of NAS of Belarus is conducted on 11 disciplines.
