Belarusian education does not lag behind the European one - it is prestigious and of high quality, and most importantly, it is cheap. Therefore, today we will talk about Belarusian universities.

How to enter a university in Belarus?

Citizens of Belarus should pass the Centralized Testing (CT) in 2 or 3 subjects of the school curriculum, as well as entrance exams if it is necessary.

Foreign nationals should take an internal interview at the university in Russian so that the admissions committee can determine the level of preparation for the educational process. Those foreign applicants who have attended preparatory courses at the university take final tests on the subjects and receive certificates. Foreign applicants present their certificates to the University Admissions Office.

Entry to higher education institutions of Belarus

Passage points

University passing scores are always available for the last year, i.e. until July-August 2020 you can only see passing scores for 2019 and previous years. This is because the recruitment plan and the scores of applicants for examinations determine the minimum score.

For example, the recruitment plan for the specialty of 10 people, and applications were submitted by 11 people. For 10 people, the total number of points is 250, while 11 people have 252 points. An entrant with 252 points passes for the specialty, and this will be the minimum passing score in 2020 for the specialty.

Scholarships in universities of Belarus

Scholarships in universities of Belarus are awarded only to students who study on a budget basis.

The amount of scholarships in universities will be made up from September 1, 2019:

• in the fields of "Art and Design", "Humanities", "Communications. Law. Economics. Management. Economics and production organization", "Social protection", "Physical culture. Tourism and Hospitality":
  • 77 rubles 08 cents - if the average grade point is from 6.0 to 6.9, as well as in the first semester;
  • 84 rubles 79 cents - if the average grade point is from 7.0 to 7.9;
  • 100 rubles 20 cents - if the average grade point is from 8.0 to 8.9;
  • 115 rubles. 62 cents- if the average grade point is from 9.0 to 10.0.
• by profiles "Pedagogy", "Pedagogy. Professional education":
  • 77 rubles 08 cents - if the average grade point of achievement is from 6.0 to 6.9, as well as in the first semester;
  • 92 rubles 50 cents - if the average grade point is from 7.0 to 7.9;
  • 107 rubles 91 cents - if the average grade point is from 8.0 to 8.9;
  • 123 rubles 33 cents - if the average grade point is from 9.0 to 10.0.
• by profiles: "Agriculture and forestry. Garden and park construction", "Ecological sciences", "Health care", "Public catering. Domestic", "Security services", "Natural sciences", "Technology and technology", "Architecture and construction":
  • 77 rubles 08 cents - if the average grade point of achievement is from 5.0 to 5.9, as well as in the first semester;
  • 92 rubles 50 cents - if the average grade point is from 6.0 to 7.9;
  • 107 rubles 91 cents - if the average grade point is from 8.0 to 8.9;
  • 123 rubles 33 cents - if the average grade point is from 9.0 to 10.0.

The specified amounts of scholarships are increased:

• in 1.3 times - to students:
  • the Belarusian State University;
  • the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus.
• 1.15 times for students:
  • the Belarusian National Technical University; o The Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus; 1.15 times for students: o The Belarusian National Technical University;
  • the Belarusian State University of Economics;
  • the Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University; o the Belarusian National Technical University; the Belarusian State Economic University; o the Belarusian State University of Education;
  • the Belarusian State Academy of Music;
  • the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts;
  • the Belarusian State Orders on the October Revolution and the Labour Red Banner of the Agricultural Academy.
• 1.5 times:
  • disabled persons of I and II groups;
  • disabled children with III and IV degree of loss of health;
  • disabled persons from combat operations on the territory of other States.
• 3 times: foreign students and stateless students studying in accordance with the international treaties of the Republic of Belarus.

University Holidays

There are two university holidays: in winter and in summer. In winter, the vacation lasts 2 weeks and begins after the winter session. In summer, the vacation lasts 1 month and begins after the training practice.

Which Universities are in Belarus?

Military Universities in Belarus

There are no military universities in Belarus, but every university has a military faculty:

• the military faculty of the BSU;
• the military technical faculty of BNTU;
• the military faculty of BSUIR;
• the military medical faculty of BSMU;
• the military faculty of the BGAA;
• the military faculty of the GrSU,
• the military transport faculty of the Belarusian State University of Transport.

The country also has the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus, which offers 23 programs at 9 faculties.

1. International Sakharov State Environmental Institute BSU

Education at the Institute is carried out on 7 specialties of the I level of education, on 3 - in the master's degree and on 3 - in postgraduate and doctoral studies.

The structure of the Institute includes:

• 3 faculties;
• 18 chairs;
• 25 research laboratories;
• 2 scientifically-methodic laboratories;
• Branch in Yerevan.

2. International University "MITSO"

The university trains future lawyers, economists, software engineers and logisticians. The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus founded the University. Education at the university is paid, but the cost can be reduced due to high academic performance and active participation in the life of the university.

MITSO closely cooperates with universities of CIS, Baltic countries, EU, is a member of International Association of Universities, and participates in Erasmus program.

3. International Institute for Humanities and Economics

Here training is conducted on 7 specialties of humanitarian and economic faculty. The Institute was founded in 1994 in Minsk. IIHE trains specialists in international relations, political science, law, psychology and economics.

University of Culture

The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts is the only art university in Belarus. Specialists are trained at five faculties.

In recent year’s specialists from the Russian Federation, the United States, Israel, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Ukraine, China, Sweden, Latvia, etc. have been invited to give lectures, practical classes, round tables and master classes for students.
