The history of the educational institution begins in 1937, when the technical school was reorganized into the Institute of Physical Culture. The institute trained graduates in the field of sports and health until 1941. During the Second World War, the institute stopped its activities, and continued only after the end of the war.
All subsequent years, a huge work was carried out to improve the institute and the quality of education. Over the years, students were able to observe the growing infrastructure of the institute. Dormitories and swimming pools, educational buildings and sports facilities were built.
In 1992 the institute was transformed into the Academy of Physical Education and Sports. The academy's students and alumni have won gold medals on the international stage, which made it possible for teachers to understand that they are moving in the right direction.
Over time, more and more departments and faculties were created, which allowed students to receive physical training in a narrow direction. And already in 2000 doctoral studies became available to students.
In 2003, the academy was renamed the university. Since then, the educational institution has been proudly called the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
And in 2017, the university held a solemn event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary.
Today the university offers a choice of three faculties:
