History of GSTU

The history of the university began in 1968 on the basis of the Polytechnic Institute at the Production Association "Gomselmash". Already in 1981 it was reorganized into the Gomel Polytechnic Institute.

The institute carried out the activities of talented engineers. Among the teaching staff were both famous scientists and ordinary teachers.

Over time, the institute opened new faculties and specialties, and among the graduates there were more and more highly qualified engineers who made a great contribution to the development of the industry.

Since 1986, active construction of the institute's infrastructure has been carried out. Educational and laboratory buildings, dormitories, residential buildings for employees and a sanatorium for students were built.

In 1995, the institute was named Pavel Osipovich Sukhoi, in 1998 it was transformed into a university. Over the next few years, the university is gaining popularity and becoming a prestigious university, actively developing in the field of engineering.

In 2012, the university was awarded the status of a scientific organization.

Today the university occupies a leading position in the ranking of the leading technical universities of the Republic of Belarus. Within the walls of the university, specialists are trained in the field of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, information technology, etc.
