The history of the university began in 1990, when the first self-supporting university was created in the Republic of Belarus. The name of the university got from its founder - Alexander Mikhailovich Shirokov. This is the first private university on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

From the first day of its work, the leadership of the university was interested in attracting more scientists to its walls. Their exchanges were the pride of the lists of creative departments.

A.M. Shirokov was the author of hundreds of scientific articles and textbooks. With his help, the university achieved great development and became popular within the framework of Belarusian education. In 1975 he was awarded the award of the Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the BSSR. He owns many awards of national and international importance for many years of effective work in the field of education.

In 2004 the university received its official name Private educational institution "Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A. M. Shirokov".

Throughout its history, the university has opened 2 faculties and 4 departments.

Shirokova Nadezhda Alexandrovna remains the general director of the university, and Kapilov Alexander Lvovich remains the rector.

Today, the university invites both Belarusian and foreign applicants to study.

In October 2020, the institute celebrated the 30th anniversary of its foundation!

University students study at the following faculties:

• Faculty of Humanities;

• Faculty of Arts.

Admission to the Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A.M. Shirokov

Applicants who plan to enter the Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A.M. Shirokov are required to prepare the following documents:

• Application by sample;

•The passport;

• Documents of secondary education with an application;

• certificates of CT conducted in the Republic of Belarus in the year of admission / previous year;

• Medical certificate;

• 4 photographs measuring 3 × 4 cm;

• Documents about benefits.

Education for foreign students at Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A.M. Shirokov

The institute is interested in cooperation with foreign applicants, therefore, it annually recruits for the following specialties:

• Variety art (instrumental music);

• Variety art (singing);

• Variety art (production);

• Culturology (applied).

In full-time education, students complete the program in 4 years, in correspondence education in 5 years.

For admission, you must submit an application, assure the selection committee that you are ready to study in a foreign language, and also pass an interview in the discipline "Creativity".

Master's degree at Institute of Contemporary Knowledge named after A.M. Shirokov

The university accepts students for the 2nd stage of higher education. Training takes place in full-time (1 year) and part-time (1.5 years) forms of training.

The master's degree is provided in the following specialties:

• Design (profiling: environmental design);

• Art management (profiling: production in the field of arts).
