Sights of Minsk region

Minsk is undoubtedly the most beautiful and famous city in Belarus. Often the whole country is associated with it, but Belarusians are not opposed, since there really is nothing bad to say about. If you have not yet been to Minsk, and doubt to go or not, this article is for you. Today we will tell you where to start acquaintance with Minsk and with the country.

Nesvizh Castle

The palace and park complex in Nesvizh is one of the most popular attractions in Belarus. Like Mir Castle, the palace in Nesvizh already has one of the most honorable awards - in 2005, the Radziwill residence was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Nesvizh’s second achievement is the Europa Nostra Award, received in the “Devotional Service” category by museum staff for the work done to restore the historical and cultural complex.

Nesvizh Palace is full of myths and mystical riddles. For example, according to one of the legends, Nesvizh and Mir castles are connected by a wide tunnel 30 km long. There are stories of the great wealth of the legendary family - 12 statues of the apostles cast in gold and silver.

Victory Square in Minsk

Victory Square in Minsk is one of the most magnificent and solemn squares of the Belarusian capital. It has been here for more than a decade that Minsk residents and guests of the capital, veterans and youth have come to bow to the feat of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and to honor a minute of silence for all those who died.

Victory Monument is a nameless monument. There are no signatures or names of soldiers, only numbers: "1941-1945". The main sculptural decoration of the obelisk is four monumental high reliefs reflecting the events of the Great Patriotic War: “Glory to the fallen heroes”, “May 9, 1945”, “Partisans of Belarus”, “Soviet Army during the Great Patriotic War”. And at the foot of the Victory Monument the Eternal Flame burns.

Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War

The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War is the first in the world dedicated to the most bloody war of the twentieth century, and the only one in Belarus created during the years of fascist occupation.

Today it is one of the most significant and largest museums on the planet - along with the richest collections in Moscow, Kiev, New Orleans, which tell about the events of the Second World War.

Over decades of research of the Great Patriotic War, the museum’s collection has grown many times: until now, hundreds of priceless rarities replenish it every year.

And already in the 21st century, at the initiative of the President of Belarus, it was decided to create a new complex for the museum with increased exhibition halls, modern technical capabilities that help to tell young people in detail about the invaluable feat of the people.

National Library

The National Library in Belarus has no equal in the whole world, many people come to Minsk just to see the main attraction of the country. The main library is a modern information, research, socio-cultural and socio-political center.

The bulk of the funds is located on 10 floors of the store. Over half a million copies are in the public domain and in reading rooms. Electronic resources are available from automated locations in the library, some through the Internet.

In 2005, on behalf of the President of Belarus, the Center for International Meetings and Negotiations at the level of heads of state and government in the library was created.

All kinds of events are held in the library, and they are always happy for tourists who can go on excursions every week with the best views of Minsk.

National Museum of Art

The National Art Museum is the cultural treasury of Belarus, which has one of the largest collections in Eastern Europe. Today it is not only a museum-gallery, but also a modern scientific and educational center, an art platform for artists.

The collection of the National Art Museum has more than 30 thousand exhibits - masterpieces of Belarusian and foreign art.

The museum takes part in the compilation of books and albums about art. In 2011, the series "Famous Artists of Belarus" was dedicated to masters of the 19th-20th centuries.

In addition to exhibitions of Belarusian and foreign artists, the museum holds lectures and interactive tours. A children's creative workshop has been working here for 20 years.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus is a famous collective of stage masters, one of the largest theater venues in Europe and an architectural symbol of the Belarusian capital.

The Bolshoi Theater of Belarus develops international relations with the largest stages of the world, among which are theaters of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. In 2013, an exchange tour with the National Opera "Estonia" took place for the first time.

The theater team has toured in more than 30 countries around the world.

Lake Naroch

Lake Naroch is a small wonder of the world for Belarusians. It is called the “Belarusian Sea” for its size. Naroch is on the list of the cleanest lakes in Belarus and attracts many tourists with its beauty.

Dudutki

“Dudutki” allow you to briefly touch the material culture and life of Belarusians. “Dudutki” is an eco-museum, a museum of “living” material culture. It goes beyond the traditional idea of the museum. The exposition here is everything that is included in the museum-production complex. The main feature of “Dudutok” is the preservation of ancient technologies for manufacturing products. According to the creators of the museum, this is in the best way reveals the connection of times, generations.

Town Hall

Minsk City Hall is the main decoration of Freedom Square and a symbol of the historical memory of Minsk residents. The building was restored in 2002 - 2004 in that place and form in which the city remembered it in the middle of the XIX century.

Since 2012, the town hall has become available for visits, although it continues to fulfill the functions of an administrative building.

The city hall has two long-term exhibition projects - the exposition "Minsk in the historical space. Cartographic cabinet" and the exposition "Minsk among friends. Twin cities of the capital of Belarus." To visit the town hall is open on Saturdays. On other days, the Museum of the History of Minsk accepts excursions by prior request.

Mound of Glory

Most of the guests arriving in Minsk cannot fail to notice the memorial complex “Mound of Glory” on the way from the airport to the capital. It is located on the 21st kilometer of the M2 Minsk - National Airport Minsk route.

Foreigners rightfully say that we have something to be proud of. For the people of Belarus, climbing the “Mound of Glory” is not just overcoming obstacles, it is a way to honor the memory of your near and dear ones. After all, such commemorative monuments were erected so that the descendants would not forget about the great contribution of grandfathers to peaceful life.

The brevity and conciseness of the Mound of Glory once again reminds us all that it is not necessary to speak lush and ornate phrases in order to remember. It is enough to put your soul into your point.
