History of MSLU

Minsk State Linguistic University as an independent higher educational institution began its activities on September 1, 1948.

The first director of the institute was candidate of economic sciences, associate professor M.F. Zhauryd. Natalia Petrovna Baranova has been the rector of MDLU since 1995.

In the 1948/49 academic year, 364 full-time students studied at the institute, of which 204 - in English, 86 - in German, 74 - in French. In 1949, a correspondence department was opened at the institute. Until 1956, teacher training was carried out in one specialty. On September 1, 1956, a five-year training of specialists in foreign and Russian or Belarusian languages ​​was introduced, and from 1964 - in two foreign languages.

Since 1960, the institute has organized two-year courses of foreign languages ​​for specialists who went to work abroad (in 1994 it was transformed into a special faculty of managers and specialists).

In 1962, a Spanish language department was opened, on the basis of which the Spanish language department was later created. In 1964, translation departments were created in the English, German and French faculties, which in 1969 were merged into the translation faculty. Since 1979, foreign citizens from all over the world have been studying at the Russian language faculty. In September 1994, the Faculty of Western European Languages ​​was opened in three departments - English, German and French, and in 2001 - the Faculty of Intercultural Communication. Since 2006, the structure of the university includes the Linguistic and Humanities College.

MSLU teaches in more than 20 foreign languages, including Arabic, Italian, Chinese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Swedish, Japanese and other languages.

The training of highly qualified scientific personnel at the Minsk State Linguistic University began in 1962 through postgraduate and doctoral studies in 1992. In 1997, the training of masters began.

Today MSLU is a leading educational institution for the training of highly qualified translators, teachers of two foreign languages, specialists in intercultural communication.

MSLU faculties

• Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture;

• Faculty of Intercultural Communication;

• Faculty of German.

Admission to MSLU

The admission process includes standard procedures: successful submission of the CT and collection of documents. The admissions office will ask you for the following documents:

• application by sample;

• application form of the applicant;

• document on education with an attachment;

• certificates of CT of the current or previous year;

• medical certificate;

• documents on benefits;

• 4 photographs (3 x 4 cm);

• a photocopy of the passport pages 31-33;

• contract for the training of specialists with higher education.

Education for foreign students at MSLU

Foreign applicants are given the opportunity to enter MSLU. To do this, the applicant is obliged to bring to the admissions office the originals of the following documents:

• a statement on the sample;

• foreign passport with translation;

• document on education with attachment and translation;

• copy of the birth certificate with translation;

• medical certificate at the place of residence with translation;

• certificate of absence of HIV infection with translation.

Please note that each translation of a document must be certified by a notary, otherwise the document will lose its validity.

International cooperation at MSLU

MSLU is a partner organization with universities from more than 25 countries. The geography of cooperation is growing every year, today close cooperation is carried out with the CIS countries, Great Britain, the USA, France, Sweden, etc.

A special Department of International Relations deals with issues of international cooperation. The department is entrusted with many functions and tasks regarding the development and maintenance of relations with universities in foreign countries, but the priority is the task of finding additional opportunities that will improve the quality of education and attract new students to MSLU and the Republic of Belarus.

MSLU master’s degree

The training program with advanced training of specialists recruits students for the following specialties:

• innovations in teaching foreign languages;

• translation and translation studies (with indication of languages);

• information and analytical support of intercultural communication;

• communication management.

Students are taught for 1 year, and after successfully passing the exams, they are awarded a master's degree. We remind you that obtaining a second degree of education is possible only for those who graduated from a university and have a first degree of education.
