The history of the creation of the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk
The modern building of the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk appeared relatively recently - in 2016. Its appearance was preceded by a series of tragic events, on the site of the previous mosque there was both a warehouse and a training center, after which it was blown up in 1962 during the construction of the restaurant of the Yubileinaya hotel ‒ a fountain was built in its place. The revival of the temple was facilitated by the consolidation of efforts of the religious communities of the two countries ‒ Turkey and Belarus. Today, it is not just the largest building among Muslim temples in the country; it is the center of Muslim culture in Belarus. There is also a school, a center for rehabilitation and assistance to those in need, conferences and training in the Koran.
The architecture of the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk
A new mosque was erected on the site of the Tatar cemetery, at the intersection of Griboyedov and Ignatenko streets. It was under construction for over 10 years, the prototype was the mosque destroyed in 1960 in Minsk. Here everything is done in her image and likeness, but in a size increased several times. The capacity of this building is over 2000 people. It is worth noting that the funds for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk were provided by the religious community of Turkey, therefore, the presidents of the two countries, Belarus and Turkey, were present here during the grand opening. The mosque was built in the Byzantine style with a high minaret. The building contains three domes: hemispherical and two sharp; the doors to the mosque are high, surrounded by half-columns and vaults, windows of the corresponding shape in the form of an arch, the roof is bright metalized, which is a characteristic feature of religious buildings.

The temple is open around the clock; the shop at the mosque is open from morning to evening every day.
