A Historic Fair With More Than 300 Years of History to Take Place in Zelva

The traditional Hannenski Kirmash fair will take place in Zelva on August 22. Its history dates back to 1721, and after a long break, the tradition was revived around 25 years ago, Onliner notifies.

Today, the event once again brings visitors to the Grodno Region.

The programme will feature an 18th-century-style costume parade and traditional craft stalls. Historically, the Zelva fair was one of the largest in the region, attracting merchants from across Europe.

Visitors could buy fabrics, furs, tea, cheese and tobacco, while horses were among the fair's most important commodities, with entire herds brought to Zelva for trade.
