Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka has successfully started the WTA-500 tournament, defeating American Hayley Baptist, BelTA informs.
At the competitions held in Washington, which had a prize fund of $922 thousand, Azarenka defeated American Hayley Baptist in the 1/16 finals with a score of 7:6 (8:6), 7:6 (7:3). The match lasted 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Azarenka will face Chinese Fan Wang in the next round. Also participating in the tournament is Arina Sobolenko, the third racket in the world, who will start her performance in the second round against Kamilla Rakhimova from Russia.
