Belarus creates a fund for universal communication and information services

The Republican fund for universal communication and information services is being created in Belarus. The corresponding decree No. 13 was signed by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, reports belta.by. The document was adopted for the further development of activities in the field of telecommunications, Informatization, information technologies and universal communication services in the country.

The Republican fund for universal communication and information services is created as part of the national budget and is a state target budget fund. Its revenues will be generated by deductions from telecommunication operators in the amount of 1.5% of their revenues from the provision of telecommunication services.

As of December 31, 2020, telecommunication operators that operate the unified national data transmission network, coordinate its creation and development, and act as customers for the design, construction, and equipment of the reference data transmission network will be exempt from deductions
