Belarus' GDP decreased by 5% in 2022

The gross domestic product of Belarus decreased by 5.2% in January – July of this year. However, in August, the economic growth rate increased by 0.5% relative to the July results, Sputnik reported. At the same time, Belarus' exports continue to grow for the fourth month in a row.

The Deputy Minister of Economy said that the slowdown in the decline of the economy is due to a good harvest. It entails an increase in production volumes. The majority of food production (meat, grain, milk) increased by 1.2 times.

At the same time, despite the reduction in GDP, we can not talk about a recession in the Belarusian economy. The Belarusian authorities are confident that the economic indicators will improve significantly thanks to a good harvest, which will ensure food security and strengthen export potential.
