Belarus' GDP has fallen, but industrial production is growing
In the first quarter of this year, GDP decreased by 2%, Sputnik reported. Now the volume of GDP is 46.5 billion Belarusian rubles, or 97.9% compared to the first quarter of 2022.
At the same time, according to the plans of the Belarusian authorities, GDP should increase by 38% by the end of the year.
Despite the fall in GDP, industrial production is growing in Belarus. Over the year, volumes increased by almost 2%. Mining industry grew by 1.8% and manufacturing - by 2.4%. In agriculture, production increased by 3%.
Energy sector volumes fell by 1.8%. Cargo turnover fell by 32%.
Annual inflation in Belarus slowed down to 6% in March.
