Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves have grown to $8.5 billion

Belarus' international reserve assets as of February 1, 2022, according to preliminary data, amounted to $8,523 billion in equivalent, BELTA writes with reference to the message of the National Bank.

In January 2022, gold and foreign exchange reserves increased by $98.8 million (by 1.2%). At the same time, in January, the government fulfilled external and internal obligations in foreign currency in the amount of almost $360 million. The growth of reserves was facilitated by the receipt of foreign currency into the budget, including from the collection of export duties, as well as the purchase of foreign currency by the National Bank.

According to the main directions of monetary policy for 2022, the volume of international reserve assets as of January 1, 2023 should be at least $7 billion.
