Belarus has issued 20 thousand genetic passports

The Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus issued a 20-thousandth genetic passport on February 15, BELTA writes.

The Institute has been providing human genetic testing services since 2011 based on its own scientific developments. Scientists have developed methods of DNA diagnostics of 19 socially significant diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and osteoporosis. The Institute also uses DNA technology to determine the risk of miscarriage associated with hereditary thrombophilia.

More than 20 thousand genetic analyses are carried out annually at the Institute. They help prevent the development of the disease and start treatment on time.
