Belarus is deprived of the right to host the World Chess Olympiad

The General Assembly of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has decided to transfer the World Chess Olympiad from Belarus to another country, tut.by reports. Belarus was deprived of the right to host the event.

The World Chess Olympiad was scheduled for 2022. The event was appointed in Belarus, but it became known that the Ministry of Sports of Belarus did not fulfill its financial obligations.

The Ministry of Sports in Belarus did not provide the payments and insurance required for the event. In addition, some significant financial obligations were violated by Belarus. After the negotiations between the Ministry of Sports and the International Chess Federation, it was decided to move the Olympiad to another country.

The new location for the Chess Olympiad is still unknown.
