Belarus lost leadership in potato growing
According to the results of UN research, the Republic of Belarus dropped out of the top 10 countries in the world for growing potatoes, tut.by reports.
Compared to 2018, the production of potatoes, as well as rye, barley, cabbage and other grains and vegetables, dropped significantly. Agrarian Belarus dropped out of the top 10 countries for the production of agricultural products.
Despite the decline in the volume of crops production over the year, Belarus proved its leadership in the production of linen. One of the largest linen-producing factories is located in Belarus - the Orsha Linen Mill. In the ranking of the leading countries, Belarus took the honourable third place after France and Belgium.
Also, this year Belarus has shown significant growth in the production of rapeseed, triticale, corn, wheat, sugar beet. Unfortunately, these crops are not included in the ranking prepared by the UN.
