Belarus may build new storage facility for radiation waste by 2030
Representatives of the Belarusian NPP and the Ministry of Energy reported that a new disposal site for radioactive waste of the NPP may be created in 2030, Sputnik reported.
Places already infected during the Chernobyl disaster are being considered for the construction of a new storage facility. There is also active cooperation with Russian colleagues on this project.
At the same time, highly active radioactive waste will be stored in capsules on the territory of the Belarusian NPP during the entire life of the station. Now it's 60 years. In the first decade, medium-level waste will also be stored at the NPP, but in a special recycled form. Then they will be taken to a new storage facility.
