Belarus Performs First Remote Robotic Surgery

Belarus Performs First Remote Robotic Surgery

Belarus has carried out its first remote robotic surgery, with the surgeon controlling the equipment from 30 kilometers away, Onliner reports.

The procedure was performed jointly by the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology and the Minsk Regional Clinical Hospital. A 60-year-old patient with localized prostate cancer underwent a robotic prostatectomy.

The operation was led by urologist Alexander Brezovsky and supported by a medical team.

The robotic approach enables precise tumor removal with minimal tissue damage, helps preserve nerve structures and supports a smoother recovery.
