Belarus plans to raise pensions to 40% of average salary
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Belarus Igor Petrishenko said that the country will continue the real growth of pension payments, the task is to bring the level of the average pension to 40% of the average salary, belta.by reports. The government wants to encourage citizens to work longer hours. This includes those over 65.
"1.5 million of our citizens have crossed the 65-year mark. The Government has approved and adopted the National Strategy for Active Longevity until 2030. The document defines the tasks, the solution of which will make it possible to more effectively use the potential of older people, to mitigate the consequences of population aging. Together, we will have to create conditions for stimulating a longer working life" - Igor Petrishenko said.
Belarus aims to develop medical, social and geriatric care, to increase the level of financial and computer literacy of the elderly population. It is planned to expand the opportunities for older people to engage in physical education and sports, tourism and creativity.
Igor Petrashenko also noted that the problems of disabled people and people with disabilities are now in the area of constant attention of the government.
The average salary in Belarus in March 2021 was 1384.7 rubles.
