Belarus strives for top-5 producers of potash fertilizers

Belarus intends to increase potash fertilizer production capacity to 17 million tons within five yearsinterfax.by reports.

This will allow the country to enter the top 5 world producers of potash fertilizers.

The increase in capacity will occur due to the commissioning of the Petrikovsky "Belaruskali" (1.1 million tons) and the Nezhinsky "Slavkali" (up to 2 million tons), according to the program of socio-economic development of the country for 2021-25, published today.

In addition, the authorities intend to put into operation a new nitrogen complex for the production of ammonia and urea in "Grodno Azot". This will allow us to increase the volume of their production to 919 thousand tons and 1286 thousand tons per year.

Now Belarus is one of the three leaders in the export of potash fertilizers, providing a sixth of the world's production.
