Belarus supplies almost half of food to EAEU market

Belarus accounts for almost half of the volume of mutual food trade in the Eurasian Economic Union, BELTA writes. The EAEU includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

Belarus accounts for about 43% of the total volume of mutual trade in food products. Approximately 93% of Belarus' supplies go to Russia; the remaining 7% are exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

The main products are cheeses, butter, milk and dairy products, fermented milk products, beef, poultry meat, fish. They make up 64% of all Belarus' supplies to the EAEU countries.

The level of self-sufficiency in the main types of agricultural products and food in the EAEU countries reaches 93%. The shortage is only in fruits and berries. The highest indicators of self-sufficiency were achieved in Belarus (94%) and Russia (90%).
