Belarus wants to raise tariffs for transit of Russian oil

The Belarusian operator of the world's largest Druzhba oil pipeline plans to raise the tariff for oil transit along the northern and southern branches to compensate for losses from European sanctions, Sputnik reported.

Tariffs will increase by 84% to the current values. This measure "will ensure the break-even operation of the company in 2023 and preserve the possibility of further development for it."

The Belarusian operator has just sent a letter about plans to raise tariffs. In turn, Transneft confirmed receipt of the letter. At the same time, the Russian company refused to give any details about a possible increase in the tariff.

Druzhba is the world's largest oil trunk pipeline system, consisting of almost 9,000 km of pipelines. The pipeline route passes through the territory of Belarus, Poland, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania (the northern section) and through the territory of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia (the southern section).

In Belarus, the oil pipeline branches into two lines: the northern one goes towards Poland and Germany, and the southern one goes through Ukraine to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
