Belarus will continue to repay debts in Belarusian rubles
In 2023, Belarus will continue to pay loans to countries in Belarusian rubles, Sputnik reported. The credit rating of Belarus remains at the level of selective default.
According to the Finance Minister, the temporary procedure for repayment of debts in the national currency is caused by the introduction of restrictive measures against the payment agent, the National Bank of Belarus.
After that, he added that work continues with Russian and Chinese partners. It is possible that part of the debt will be refinanced on the Russian market.
Earlier, international credit rating agencies reacted to this decision of the official Minsk by lowering the credit rating of the republic to pre-default.
