Belarus will start producing medical gloves

In December, Belarus will start producing medical gloves. Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said today at a meeting with Lukashenko on the epidemiological situation and measures taken to counter the spread of coronavirus, minsknews.by reports.

The production of latex gloves will appear at the "SvetlogorskKhimvolokno" plant. The project will be launched in two stages — the first in December 2021, the second in July 2022.

Roman Golovchenko stressed that the expansion of the production of personal protective equipment in Belarus has had its effect: the needs of the domestic market are almost completely closed, but the issue of the production of gloves still remains open.

About $10 million was allocated for the organization of production. It is planned to receive the first products in December. The production of gloves will consist of two complete lines with a capacity of at least 300 thousand pieces per day each (about 200 million pieces of gloves annually). According to preliminary calculations, at least 115 people will be employed in the new production.

Gloves will be produced from both natural latex and butadiene-acrylonitrile polymer.
