Belarusian school students won the International Geographical Olympiad

Belarusian school students under the guidance of teachers from BSU won gold and bronze medals at the XVIII iGeo-2022. The Olympiad was held online and ended on July 18 in Paris, the university's website writes. BSU also received an award as the best university in Belarus for international students.

The gold medal was awarded to the graduate of the Gymnasium No. 1 in Grodno, Nikita Vikharev. The bronze was won by a student of the Gymnasium No. 1 in Slutsk, Roman Penyaz.

The participants of the Olympiad took a test and performed theoretical tasks. All tasks were performed in English. Note that the Geographical International Olympiads are the only ones where materials for participants are not translated into Russian.

A total of 209 school students from 54 countries took part in iGeo-2022. The organizer of the competition this year was the French National Geographic Committee.
