Belarusian writer is nominated for a prestigious cultural award in Denmark

Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksievich was nominated for the highest award of Denmark in the field of culture and art Sonning Prize, relax.by reports. Svetlana Aleksievich is also a Nobel laureate.

Svetlana Aleksievich was nominated for this award, thanks to her work on the theme of World War II. The Danish cultural community notes the important contribution of the writer in spreading the historical aspects of the war to the masses.

The Sonning Prize is the highest honour in the arts and culture. The award was named after the distinguished Danish writer Karl Johan Sonning. The award is presented once every two years to the writer who made the greatest contribution to the development of European culture. Among the winners of the Sonning Prize were such renowned cultural figures as Winston Churchill, Niels Bohr, Laurence Olivier, Ingmar Bergman, Vaclav Havel, Jorn Utzon and Lars von Trier.
