Belarusian writer Piotr Vasyuchenko was posthumously nominated for the international ALMA Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

ALMA Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was founded in honor of Swedish children's writer Astrid Lindgren. In terms of prestige, it is equated with the Nobel prize in children's literature. The award will be presented on 31 March 2020 at the children's literature book fair in Bologna, ej.by reports.

The list of nominees was announced at the international book fair in Frankfurt. Among them for the first time there was a Belarusian author.

One of 237 candidates from 68 countries will be able to receive the award.

Piotr Vasyuchenko belongs fantasy in the Belarusian language "The adventure of dukes Kublicky and Zablotsky". Vasyuchenko is the author of 180 popular science articles, reviews, essays. The works of the writer were translated into English, Bulgarian, German, Polish, Russian, Slovak and Czech. His plays are staged on the stages of Belarusian theaters.

Piotr Vasyuchenko died on August 25, 2019 at the age of 60.
