Head of the Department for Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexey Begun reported about new documents: now there will be two documents - an ID card and a biometric passport.

A biometric passport will be used to travel abroad. The 32 pages will contain the owner's personal information, a chip, and a place for visas. No marks, except for visas, are provided in the passport.

The new type of documents will be made twice as fast as the current passport. The maximum term - 15 days, express - 5 days - said Begun.

Children under 14 years of age will be issued ID cards and a biometric passport for five years, older than 14 - for ten.

Information about the place of registration, children, and marriage will disappear from the internal passport.

The new documents will be issued from September 1, 2021.
