Border control at the Belarusian-Russian border is strengthened
Since May 5, 2023, Belarusian border guards have begun to strengthen border control on the border with Russia, "Sobiray Rukzak" reported. They check passengers' documents and sometimes luggage. There are no changes in moving by train or plane.
Queues may form at checkpoints. Now, waiting can take from 30 minutes to several hours.
According to information from passengers, those who return to Belarus without a passport after applying for a visa in Moscow have no problems crossing borders.
These innovations are explained by the preparation for the entry into force of the Agreement on mutual recognition of visas of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
The Agreement implies:
- foreigners and stateless persons with a visa of one of the countries (RB or RF) can move between the two countries without restrictions
- foreigners who are allowed visa-free entry to both countries can move between them without restrictions
We will write more about the agreement after its entry into force.
