BSU has developed a program to determine genetic disorders

BSU specialists have developed a computer program ORFhunteR for the study of human RNA molecules and their automatic description. It allows quickly analyzing molecular genetic data and automatically determining the genetic information of RNA molecules with a detailed description of it, the university's website writes.

Unlike analogues, ORFhunteR allows to quickly process up to several thousand RNA molecules simultaneously, which is important for obtaining detailed and structured information. The data obtained expand the capabilities of scientists in conducting basic research, help in the diagnosis of genetic disorders, and can be used to develop more accurate predictions of the course of the disease and the choice of effective treatment.

ORFhunteR is available for specialists from any country, as it is registered on the international Bioconductor platform. This is the first bioinformatics development by Belarusian scientists registered on a platform of this level.
