By the end of 2021, the amount of emissions from transport is expected to decrease

The Minsk City Committee of Natural Resources predicts a reduction in harmful emissions from mobile sources by the end of 2021, the website of the Minsk City Executive Committee writes with reference to the Minsk-News agency.

In 2021, more than 85% of pollutants in Minsk came from spent gases of motor vehicles. Despite this, the amount of harmful emissions is decreasing. The forecast figure in 2021 is 112.6 thousand tons. The volume of emissions for 2020 amounted to 113.8 thousand tons. This is 16.3 thousand tons less than in 2019.

It will be possible to reduce emissions thanks to the leasing policy for the purchase of cars, which allows cars to be upgraded to environmental classes Euro-5, Euro-6. Emissions will be reduced even taking into account the dynamics of GDP growth, the construction of new ones in Minsk, the development of satellite cities and an increase in the number of personal cars.
