Cherry Blossoms Are Blooming in Belarus

Cherry Blossoms Are Blooming in Belarus

Spring has officially arrived in Belarus — the cherry blossoms are in bloom, Onliner writes.

While Japan’s iconic sakura season is already winding down, here in Belarus the trees are just beginning to flower.

In Minsk, you can find sakura in three main spots: Sendai Garden, Friendship Park, and the Botanical Garden. In Grodno, cherry trees are blooming for just the second time in Zhiliber Park.

The Botanical Garden is one of the best places to soak up the atmosphere. A handful of trees bloom at slightly different times, creating a staggered show of petals. One of the standout trees can be found near the main entrance in the Garden of Ornamental Plants. It’s officially labeled as "serrated cherry" — not the most poetic name — but garden experts say it’s one of several species related to traditional Japanese sakura.

And if cherry blossoms aren’t quite enough, magnolias and other spring flowers are already putting on a vibrant display throughout the garden. Whether you’re after the perfect photo or just a quiet moment among the petals, now’s the time to go.
