Currency restrictions in Belarus
Over the past months, exchange rates have been steadily increasing in comparison with Belarusian ruble. But in the current situation with coronavirus in Belarus, a shortage of foreign currency may come. Belarusbank has already suspended some operations with foreign currency, reports tut.by.
Since 26th of March, the bank management has limited transfers between accounts in Belarusian rubles and foreign currency accounts, as well as replenishment of foreign currency cards with Belarusian rubles through banks, infokiosks or ATMs. In addition, getting the cash from foreign currency accounts will not be allowed for an indefinite period. The above restrictions apply to accounts opened by individuals.
At the moment, the restrictions do not spread on payments in foreign currency for purchases, loans, etc.
