Declamations of ancient poetry will be held at BSU

Open declamations of ancient poetry "Ad Melpomenen" ("To Melpomene") will be held online at the Belarusian State University, the BSU website writes. All interested students and schoolchildren without age restrictions from any educational institutions in Belarus can participate.

To participate, you need to fill out a form by May 31, shoot a video of your speech and post it on YouTube with #adMelpomenen hashtag. The best videos will be posted on social networks of the Department of Classical Philology of BSU.

Readers will be evaluated in five categories. In the "Original" category it is necessary to expressively read a poetic work of 7-20 lines in Latin or ancient Greek. In the nomination "Freestyle" it is supposed to recite a poem on an antique theme. You can also submit your own author's text and read your own translation of ancient works into Belarusian or Russian. In the last four nominations, the text volume should not exceed 27 lines.
