Foreigners Spend About $50 Mln On Treatment In Belarus In 2019

In 2019, Belarus will earn about $ 50 million from exports of medical services, Dmitry Kalistratov, the head of the department of the Ministry of Health, said to “Belarus 1” TV channel.

According to tut.by, each year over 200 foreign patients from 140 countries come to Belarus to receive high quality treatment. Over the past year, foreign patients brought to our Belarus over $43 million, and this is not the limit.

By the end of 2019, the record will be broken. Most foreign patients came from neighbouring Russia and Ukraine, as well as the guests from Brazil, the U.S., China, and Sudan.

Medical services provided by oncology, traumatology and orthopedics, cardiology, dentistry and cosmetology specialists are the most popular among non-Belarusian patients.

“Every year, the numbers show the growth and dynamics. In 2019, we already expect  to earn over $46 million. The analysis carried out since 2010 shows that each year the average check for one foreign patient is growing. If in 2010, it was about $85, today it is already more than $300,” the official noted.

About 200 foreigners from Russia, Iraq, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan annually arrive at the Republican Scientific Practical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics for hospitalization. Over the past 9 months, 154 patients have already been treated there.

For the year, Belarusian dentists treated almost 12,000 foreigners, earning the country more than a million dollars.
