From January 26, Belarus will fix up prices for vegetables

From January 26, 2022, maximum prices for potatoes, cabbage, beets and carrots will be fixed up. This applies to both prices for producers and retail prices for costumers, the agency Minsk-News writes.

In 2021, the price index exceeded the overall inflation rate in the country by almost 2 times. Inflation was about 10%, and the cost of fruit and vegetable products increased by almost 18% and continues to grow in January 2022. Taking into account these factors, the government decided to fix up prices.

The retail price for these vegetables is formed by adding 30% to the fixed price. Previously, they had already tried to limit the price increase, but manufacturers abused their position in the market and exceeded these prices.
