Having a business or working with the state budget: what is riskier in Belarus?
According to ej.by, this is evidenced by a survey conducted by MIA Research commissioned by the IPM Research center to study the perception of small and medium-sized private enterprises of the business environment in Belarus.
The survey was conducted in July-August 2019. It was attended by representatives of 401 companies operating in Belarus. The study was conducted within the framework of the international technical assistance project "development of Kastrychnitskaga ekanamichnaga forum", implemented with the support of the European Union.
In particular, the businessmen were asked the question: "how safe is it in Belarus? "and offered answers:" to have a big business"," to work with the state budget"," to work with state enterprises "or"to invest in new projects from scratch".
According to the survey, the majority of entrepreneurs believe that it is the most risky to have a large business in Belarus. This was the answer to 31.2% of the respondents. At the same time, the number of those who believe that it is very risky to work with the state budget is also large. This opinion is shared by 30.4% of respondents. On the third place on risks - to invest in new projects "from scratch". 29.7% of small and medium-sized businesses are aware of the danger of these actions.
Also among the risky actions of the businessmen are called to work with state-owned enterprises. So took 22.7 percent of the respondents.
At the same time, to the question: "Would you like to participate in the privatization of state-owned enterprises, if there was such an opportunity?"the majority of respondents (35.7%) found it difficult to answer. The second most popular answer was: "No, I would prefer not to deal with the state." So answered 30.2% of businessmen. "Yes, if there were interesting suggestions and suitable conditions," replied 19.7% of representatives of companies.
