How did coronavirus affect Belarus-EU relations?

The spread of the pandemic affected the political environment in the world, how relations between Belarus and the EU changed, reports tut.by.

Due to the difficult epidemiological situation, close cooperation between countries has become more important than ever. So the European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi notes that the Government of the Republic of Belarus has become more active in cooperation with the European Union, several agreements have already been signed.

Thus, the European Union intends to support Belarus in the fight against coronavirus, however, there are some barriers for Belarus from the International Monetary Fund. Nevertheless, as soon as they are overcome, Belarus will receive the financial assistance.

In addition, relations between Belarus and the European Union within the framework of the Eastern Partnership continue to develop. The EU planned to allocate $60 million to Belarus, in case of the implementation of the recommendation of the World Health Organization.
