In 2021, air pollution decreased in Minsk

According to preliminary estimates, the total volume of pollutants in Minsk in 2021 decreased by 1.2 thousand tons and amounted to less than 130 thousand tons, the Minsk-News agency reports. Also, during the year, the emissions did not exceed the permissible norms.

It was possible to reduce emissions by eliminating their sources, improving the efficiency of gas cleaning plants, updating the fleet of vehicles and expanding the electric transport network — the share of passenger electric transport was 42%.

The trend towards reducing air pollution in Minsk continues. Until 2025, the construction of the third metro line, the creation of electric charging stations, the expansion of the network of bike paths and the allocation of lanes for public transport will continue.
