In Belarus, antigen tests will be used instead of PCR

Belarus is switching to the use of antigen tests for coronavirus. This was told on the “Belarus 1” TV channel by chief sanitary doctor Alexander Tarasenko, minsknews.by reports.

He noted that such tests are done faster. In addition, they are cheaper compared to PCR. Therefore, we have made adjustments to the regulatory documents.

According to him, the use of rapid antigen tests has been started in order not to overload the laboratories. "And they are prescribed primarily on the recommendation of a doctor if there are signs of acute respiratory infections. PCR is carried out for those who are hospitalized in a hospital" - explained Alexander Tarasenko.
