Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belarus asked two Polish diplomats to leave the country
On March 11, Charge d'Affaires of Poland in Belarus Martin Voitsekhovsky was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tut.by reports.
The Polish mission was handed a note with a proposal to the head and consul of the Consulate General of Poland in Grodno to leave the territory of Belarus within 48 hours.
“In connection with the excessive, asymmetric and destructive response of Poland to the legitimate and reasoned decision of Belarus in relation to the Consul of the Consulate General of Poland in Brest E. Timofeyuk, as well as ignoring the relevant requests of the Belarusian side, on the basis of Articles 23 and 55 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations to the Polish side the decision was made on the inexpediency of the presence on the territory of Belarus of the head and consul of the Consulate General of Poland in Grodno”, reports the Ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that the Polish representative violated international law. The consul was asked to leave the territory of Belarus.
In response, Poland recognized the diplomat from the Belarusian embassy in Warsaw as persona non grata.
