Minsk hosts the World Ship Modeling Cup

The World Championship in Ship Modeling has been taking place in Minsk since April 24, according to Minsk-News.

The models—ranging from sailboats and battleships to ships in bottles—are judged on craftsmanship and how closely they resemble real prototypes. Participants used a variety of materials, from wood to 3D-printed components.

Special focus is given to working yacht models, which will be tested on Komsomolskoye Lake. The competition runs through April 27, and a model exhibition at a local shopping center has already drawn considerable attention.

Among the participants is seasoned modeler Alisher Merzayev, who presented a cutaway version of the historic sloop Vostok.
