Minsk residents gave more than 9.6 tons of Christmas trees for recycling

In January of this year, Minsk residents handed over more than 9.6 tons of Christmas trees for centralized recycling, their main focus will be the production of compost and wood chips for further use, Sputnik writes.

Minsk city housing stressed that this method of getting rid of Christmas trees is the most environmentally acceptable. At the beginning of the year, the municipal services of the city organized the centralized removal of Christmas trees left by citizens at container sites and places for collecting bulky waste.

Record demand for Christmas' trees at the end of 2023 led to the sale of about 145 thousand Christmas trees in Belarus, which is 8 thousand more than in the previous year. The forestry enterprises of the Grodno region were the leaders in sales, selling more than 31.2 thousand Christmas trees and bypassing Minsk and other regions of the country.
