More than 132 thousand New Year trees were sold in Belarus during the holidays
The Ministry of Forestry said that this is 2 thousand more trees than last year, BELTA writes.
During this season, the state forestry also sold about 14 thousand pine trees — the demand for pine as a Christmas tree has grown. As well as the popularity of trees in a tub, 3.5 thousand of them were sold.
Every year the demand for trees grown for sale is growing, and the number of cases of illegal logging is decreasing. This trend is primarily due to the reasonable prices of Christmas trees and high fines. On the website of Minsk Forestry New Year's trees cost up to 57 BYN and the fine starts from 96 BYN.
Photo and video recording equipment is also used in forests, and control points are placed on highways, of which there are more than 300 this year. During these holidays, only 8 cases of illegal logging of pine trees were established throughout the country.
Enhanced state protection will continue throughout the Christmas holidays to prevent violators from selling illegally cut trees.
