Most of fires in the Brest region occur due to smoking

In the Brest region, the prosecutor's office has strengthened its supervisory activities for fire prevention work in residential buildings, BELTA writes.

The situation with fires in the Brest region is considered difficult. Last year, 980 fires took the lives of 99 people and since the beginning of this year already 17 people died in fires. The main cause of the fires was the careless handling of fire when smoking.

Now in all regions with an unfavorable situation related to the occurrence of fires, inspections are being carried out. The main attention is paid to the quality of social and practical assistance to the disabled, large families, single pensioners and the elderly. They also check that assistance is provided in a timely manner.
